Dear Homewood colleagues,

The Homewood Parking Office is rolling out a new parking voucher program that provides a significant discount to posted daily rates.

Effective immediately, single-use vouchers—which are available in both electronic and physical formats—will be sold for $8 each. The barcoded permits, whether a printed ticket or displayed on your mobile device, will be scanned at the entrance and exit gates, allowing for contactless parking interactions. In addition, for every 10 vouchers purchased, two additional ones will be provided at no cost during the trial period, at least through June 30. Vouchers will be valid through June 30, 2022; if not used by that date, they can be traded in for future credit at updated rates.

We believe that moving from the industry standard of monthly parking rates to a “pay for only what you use” model is the right thing to do in today’s environment. With so many employees primarily working from home and only on-site occasionally, this new option provides better fiscal value and more flexibility as we assess the workplace adjustments in the COVID era and beyond.

The single-use vouchers will permit one vehicle to enter and exit garage parking facilities on the Homewood campus. These facilities are:

  • South Garage
  • San Martin Garage
  • Top level of the West Gate Garage, next to the Johns Hopkins Club, though at least June 30
  • Muller Deck to be included by the end of March

Those on campus full-time will still find better value in a monthly permit.

Employees can use payroll deduction to purchase the new vouchers.

Departmental purchases of vouchers will still be offered at the $12 rate. Departments with unused vouchers should make arrangements to trade them in for new vouchers on a one-for-one basis as soon as possible.

To sign up, you can:

  • Email the Parking Office at with number of vouchers and payment method
  • Call the Parking Office, 410-516-7275, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Visit the Parking Office, located inside the South Garage, under Mason Hall

The process can be fully virtual for those using payroll deduction or credit card payment methods. Those paying by cash or check, or wanting physical permits, may need to visit the office in person or expect a seven-to-10-day turnaround to allow for processing.

The fastest and most cost-effective option—12 vouchers for the price of 10—is available via payroll deduction by emailing, which will allow us to quickly process the transaction and email vouchers for use on your mobile phone or tablet.

Thanks to University Administration for supporting this project to provide better value to our parking customers, and to the parking team for working diligently to implement the new program. We will evaluate its efficiency during the next few months, and we hope to extend it in future years.
