Starting Saturday, October 2nd, the transition of the Homewood-Peabody-JHMI service to our new operator will be complete, and passengers will begin seeing newly-branded, blue "University Shuttle" buses serving the route.  A few non-JHU-branded buses may supplement service until all of the fleet is in place.  All buses should be tracking normally within TransLoc, regardless.

The weekday timetable will return to its normal frequency with departures every 6 minutes during morning and afternoon peak service, every 15 minutes during midday service, and every 30 minutes in the evenings.  Weekend service will be increased with departures every 25 minutes, previously departing every 50 minutes.  The updated schedule is posted at and includes the new Dispatch phone number of (410) 391 8700 for issues requiring immediate attention.  As always, riders may contact with questions or concerns.

This is the beginning of a longer-term transition to an electric bus fleet, anticipated to be completed sometime in 2026.  More information may be found at

On Saturday, September 25th, a portion of Charles Street will be closed to vehicular traffic (more information:  The Homewood-Peabody-JHMI bus route will be detoured, and several stops relocated, from the beginning of the day until after 3pm.

After making the stop at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, buses will enter the Mt. Vernon area via Monument Street, stopping on the corner of Monument and Calvert by the SHA Headquarters entrance instead of the usual location for Stop #2 (Peabody Northbound).  Stop #3 (Penn Station) will be made at Calvert and Lanvale Streets, but passengers wishing to utilize Penn Station are encouraged to use the Southbound stop (#12) to access the station on Saturday.  Stop #4 will be made on westbound North Avenue in front of the Centre Theater / JHU-MICA Film Center.  Buses will then resume the regular route from Charles Street and North Avenue.

Starting with the 3:45pm departure from JHMI, buses will resume the normal route.

Please contact (410) 391 8700 or with questions about this detour.

A tracking solution has been implemented allowing the TransLoc app to show our interim buses on the Homewood-Peabody-JHMI route.  It was deployed and tested successfully over the past weekend.  All buses on the route should now be tracking.  As a reminder, our new fleet is due to deploy starting Saturday, October 2nd.  Please keep an eye on this space for further updates.

The Homewood-Peabody-JHMI Shuttle will run on a modified schedule over the next few weeks as the university prepares to introduce a new fleet of buses to the service line next month.  Beginning on Thursday, Sept. 16, and continuing for a period of two and a half weeks, service time for the shuttle will be reduced to every 10 minutes during peak weekday morning and afternoon times and every 15 to 30 minutes during other parts of the day.

TransLoc tracking for this route will not be effective during this period.  Tracking on other routes, as well as Night Ride On-Demand service, will operate normally.  Full service will be restored on Saturday, Oct. 2.

More info on the transition period:

Through the rest of September, Homewood-Peabody-JHMI service will be supplemented by an outside bus company in the afternoons and evenings, and on weekends. On weekdays (beginning Monday, August 30th), this will start at approximately 3pm. On Saturdays and Sundays this will be effective all day.

The outside provider's buses will likely NOT track in TransLoc. The tracking situation will be back to normal by early October as some dramatic improvements to the JHU bus service will be deployed. In the meantime, we apologize for any confusion and inconvenience caused.

As of Friday, September 3rd, 2021, a number of parking locations at the Homewood Campus are on waitlisted status.  Those locations are: Homewood South Garage, North Surface Lots, Wyman General, and Wyman Reserve.  For more information contact
