COVID-19 Information

Prevention is a community effort!  Transportation Services is partnering with YOU to help keep Blue Jays safe!

Here's what Transportation Services is doing to help keep you safe and healthy while using our services:

  • Limiting capacity.  Bus capacity is limited to 20, and Blue Jay Shuttle capacity is limited to 6.  We're adjusting our departure frequency to help meet demand.
  • Frequent disinfection.  Each time a bus or shuttle returns to the yard, it is treated with a hospital-grade disinfectant before it returns to service.
  • Wipe-downs of high-touch areas.  Multiple times during their shifts, drivers are wiping down frequently touched areas with disinfectant wipes.
  • Automatic door operation.  All of our buses, and the majority of our Blue Jay Shuttle vans, are equipped with driver-operated automatic door opening and closing mechanisms.

And here's what you can do on top of that, to help keep yourself safe and healthy on board our buses and shuttles:

  • Follow distancing guidelines while waiting.  Be respectful and board in order.  Let disembarking passengers exit the vehicle before boarding.
  • Wear face coverings.  All drivers and passengers are required to wear face coverings, covering nose and mouth, while on board our buses and shuttles.
  • Touch as little as possible.  Let the driver operate the door via the automatic mechanism.  Grab as little as necessary to steady yourself while entering and exiting.  Wear gloves, if you have them.
  • Sanitize your hands immediately upon arrival.  At your destination, your first task should be to wash or sanitize your hands thoroughly, using recommended products and techniques.
  • Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.  If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not board a bus or shuttle.  Self-isolate and call the JH COVID Call Center at (833) 546 7546.  Remember to complete your COVID Health Check at bit.ly/Prodensity for every 12-hour period you intend to be on campus.

Here are some additional tips and more details about how we can work together to reduce the risk while riding:

Bus Passenger Tips

  • Door opening and closing is controlled by operator in all vehicles.  Use front doors for entry.  Please let disembarking passengers exit before boarding begins.
  • All passengers and drivers are required to wear face coverings at all times.  Non-compliance will lead to delays and/or discipline.
  • Queues awaiting buses should follow distancing guidelines and maintain at least 6 feet separation.  Please be respectful and board in order.
  • Capacity limited to 20 passengers.  Please spread out and use designated seats (those not marked as restricted) or marked standing locations.
  • Please face forward when possible.  Even those using side-facing seats should turn and face forward as much as possible.
  • If standing, face forward, hold onto railing and spread out from others.
  • Windows should remain open unless weather (heavy rain or extreme heat) makes this untenable.
  • Please wash or sanitize hands upon arrival.

Blue Jay Shuttle Passenger Tips

  • Door opening and closing is controlled by operator in all vehicles.  Use side doors for entry.  Please let disembarking passengers exit before boarding begins.
  • All passengers and drivers are required to wear face coverings at all times.  Non-compliance will lead to delays and/or discipline.
  • Capacity limited to 6 passengers.  Please use designated seats.
  • Please wash or sanitize hands upon arrival.
