Notices

Date: Aug 2019
Please be reminded that in observance of the Labor Day holiday, there will be NO service on ANY of Transportation Service's daytime or evening bus and shuttle routes and services on Monday, September 2nd, 2019.  Normal service will resume on Tuesday the 3rd.

Blue Jay Shuttle's evening and Night Ride services are undergoing many changes for the Fall 2019 semester!  Starting on Sunday, August 25th, the Blue and Pink routes are being combined into the "Homewood Route," which will serve Brody Learning Commons, Mason Hall, the Giant at Tower Square on West 41st Street, and numerous apartment complexes and other locations north and east of the Homewood Campus.  The route will depart Brody Learning Commons every half-hour from 6:00pm until 11:30pm.  Certain locations no longer served by fixed-route service will still be readily accessible by our Night Ride service, whose boundaries are not changing for the Fall.

The Brody Shuffle will be seeing an increase in frequency starting on Sunday the 25th, as well.  The first Brody Shuffle departure will occur at 5:40pm, followed by departures at :10, :20, :40, and :50 after each hour until 11:50pm.  Then at midnight the frequency becomes every 15 minutes at :00, :15, :30, and :45 after each hour, with the final departure occurring at 3:30am.  When combined with the Homewood Route, this means that a Blue Jay Shuttle departs Brody every ten minutes from 5:40pm until midnight, and every 15 minutes thereafter until 3:30am.

Starting this past week, Blue Jay Shuttle now provides Night Ride service for the Peabody Institute from 6:00pm until 3:45am.  Detailed information about this service is available at https://peabody.jhu.edu/life-at-peabody/campus-safety/escort-van/ .

Last but not least, TransLoc is rolling out a new and improved app for bus tracking and Night Ride service requests.  Among other improvements, the new system will alert riders to the status of their trips via push notifications rather than text messages (although rides referred to Lyft during high demand will still receive status updates via text).  Support for the "Rider" app will be continued for the time being, but, we encourage all of our passengers to upgrade to the new app as soon as possible.  It can be found at the Google Play or the iPhone App Store, or at https://transloc.com/app/ .

More information on these updates can be found on our website at http://ts.jhu.edu/shuttles/ or by emailing shuttles@jhu.edu .

The Homewood-Peabody-JHMI bus stop by Barnes & Noble (southbound St. Paul Street prior to 33rd) has been displaced for many weeks due to construction. Starting Thursday, August 22nd, the stop will return to its normal location. The modification will continue through Wednesday the 21st even though the barriers have been removed, as there is still a fair amount of construction-related cleanup occurring on the sidewalk in front of the store.

The Fall 2019 dates of operation for the Homewood-Carey Express shuttle have been published.  The schedule is available at http://ts.jhu.edu/Shuttles/Shuttle_Schedules/schedule_fy20_carey_fall.pdf

No additional changes to the five other daytime bus and shuttle routes are anticipated for the Fall semester.
